Some More Extremely Sad News ::

I got this from Buster earlier today:

Billy and Lynn Ammon's youngest grandson in Ga. was killed in a car wreck. His brother is in intensive care.

Apparently a car swerved to miss a deer and hit the car that the brothers were in which was being driven by their father who is in a separate hospital.

Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.

Here is a link to the local Gwinnett County, Ga. newspaper with the story:

http://www.gwinnettdailypost.com/local/cities/buford/suwanee--year-old-dies-in-car-wreck-involving-deer/article_75abaee2-80ee-5858-891c-a1e7ffc77166.html

The story gives some details on the accident which took the life of Billy and Lynn's 11 year old grandson. His 13 year old brother is in intensive care and will, apparently, be undergoing brain surgery very soon. Their father, also critically injured, is in another hospital.

The Ammons family is certainly in my and Jeanie's thoughts at this time and I'll update this when I may receive further news.

At least they're finally going in the right direction!

The Camden High School Bulldogs ::

They're off to a great start this year:

Camden: 35
Lugoff-Elgin:14

Hopefully this will continue. I was in Camden last weekend and apparently the band is terribly sad condition with few members and no drums. Maybe that will change with some school spirit.

The 50th Year Reunion

I just got this from Buster a short while ago:

First just want to take this moment to thank Jerry Sheheen for heading up the plans for this gala.

After putting in as much info from all  those who chipped in their thoughts and concerns the dates of Aug 14th/ 15th will be dates of the reunion.

Plans are to have a social mixer with no music or venue on Fri. and a duplication of all past reunions on Sat.

Hope everyone can attend. We look forward to seeing you.  B.

These dates work for me and I'll be looking forward to seeing everyone.

News From Buster ::

I got this e-mail from Buster earlier today:

Been a tough week for our classmates.

Billy Sheorn and Pris McLoud have had medical setbacks.

Marcelle Bradley's Fortner husband has regressed due to his dementia---broke his hip and can not communicate.

Betty Jane McCallum Fort lost her husband to pancreatic cancer. He was a good guy and originally from Abbeville ( the birthplace of the Confederacy) and we would often talk Civil war history.

On a good note Julian Burns retired from the army as a 2 star, came back and was recently elected  Chairman of the Kershaw County Council.

I'm wishing the best for all of my former classmates, but I have to say that dementia just scares the crap out of me and the last thing I would want is to have to live like that. When my wife was in rehab after her accident I would visit her and see the stroke victims and it was heartbreaking to see the results!

First Play-off Game Will Be the Last ::

The Bulldog's season ended on another sour note last night in an away game at Belton Honea Path.

Belton Honea Path--28

There's always hope for next year, I guess.
